Visual Design Final Project

This was developed over the course of the Visual Design class taught through SkillCrush online. I took the course in 2017 after taking their WordPress Developer course.

SkillCrush Visual Design Final Project: Complete Visual Design for a coffee Shop

This was a project that we built cumulatively through out the course. We created personae for the prospective customers based on our own research, and worked from there to develop marketing, and visuals that would resonate with them. I had some grounding in design through my degree in architecture but this allowed me to take design in a different direction. Designing the logo was something I enjoyed immensely.

While developing the style guide for the coffee shop we were also learning wireframing. We were then tasked to develop a wireframe of a landing page to celebrate the grand opening of the coffee shop. I worked in Sketch to mock up a lo-fi version of a landing page I thought would attract their customer.

From the wireframe stage and using the style guide we’d developed we were then tasked with fleshing out the final landing page for the project. Again in Sketch I was able to add images, color, and copy to the wireframe and work toward a hi-fidelity page that felt functional.

I would not ever say that my visual design skills are at a professional level but taking the class did allow me insight into working with a design team, how to use some of the tools of the trade, and gave me an appreciation for the work that goes into crafting the visual design aspects of a job.
