About Me

Morning person, Relentlessly curious, Process oriented generalist, ENTJ, Dog lover, Allergic to caffeine

I’m Lisette Carrithers

An urban planner, a lab tech, and a romance writer walk into a bar… Alright it’s just me, and it’s probably a book store. I wasn’t kidding about my why. There is a charge I get from being able to simplify the answer to a complex question. The spark when someone who may have been overwhelmed, or felt like they were never going to understand, gets it, is powerful. I have been lucky enough to see that spark in many different kinds of situations. My why, combined with a lifetime of putting patients, collaborators, and customers first is why I truly feel like grant writing and conversational design are where I’m meant to be.

Outside of work, I like to build things (frustrated product designer? Maybe. Have to put that architecture degree to use somewhere!) I am currently working on an ultralight camper. I want to travel the country and do the landscape and nature photography I love at some point. I’m more than happy to talk about weight distribution and engineering grey water systems. I also sew, because sewing machines are power tools too! What else? I’m a mom to a daughter in art school, and a rescue dog who I’m pretty sure I’m her emotional support human. I’m a writer so everything I see or do becomes fodder for the work. I can’t imagine living any other way.

About this site

A little bit about this site, it was designed by me using Elegant Themes Divi builder, with their Copywriter layout pack as the base. From there I made modifications to suit my needs and functions. I would not consider myself a web designer but I am conversant in the visual language of website design with a little background in PHP, HTML, and CSS to make it interesting. The graphics are either purchased stock, included with the layout pack, or my own work.

I am also running Google Analytics on the site to get a better idea of how effective it is. Primarily I’m looking at where visitors come from, how long they stay and what pages they look at, also whether they are using mobile or desktop systems to look at the site. This information will then be used to make changes over time so that I have a site that works for my needs.
